handymanHow to fix it
Lower the wire shutoff arm to its down (ON) position, or set the on/off switch or control button back to On, then wait a few hours for the first batch of ice.
- Open the freezer and look at the ice maker: if a wire arm sticks up above the ice bin, press it down — up is OFF, down is ON.
- If your model has a switch or a display button (often labelled with a snowflake or "Ice Maker"), set it to On instead.
- Give it a few hours. A working ice maker should cycle and drop a first batch; if nothing happens after several hours, move on to the water and temperature checks.
Switching the ice maker on or lowering the shutoff arm is a no-tools operation permitted everywhere.
