In Canada, when a pool pump runs but won't prime, the most common cause is that it's sucking air instead of water: the pool level has dropped below the skimmer, the strainer-pot lid isn't sealing, or a basket is clogged. Reseat the basket and O-ring, fill the strainer pot with water from a hose, set the lid on hand-tight (no tools), close the air-relief valve, restore power, and re-prime.
