In Canadian homes, start at the door seal. Wipe the gasket clean, then close the door on a dollar bill or slip of paper and tug — if it slides out easily anywhere, that spot isn't sealing and warm air is leaking in. Cleaning the gasket and clearing anything blocking the door is free and fixes this most of the time.

Close the door on a dollar bill or slip of paper so half sticks out, then pull. Good seal grips it; if it slides free with no drag, that spot isn't sealing. Work your way around all four sides.
Look and press along the rubber: if it's clean and springs back but the paper still slips, it may be warped — try warming it gently with a hair dryer on low and reshaping it. If it's cracked, torn, or stays flat, it needs replacing.

Order a gasket that matches your model, warm it so it's pliable, then work it into the retaining channel around the door — pressing it fully home and checking the seal with the paper test before you're done.

Find your model number (usually on a sticker inside the fridge cabinet) and order the matching gasket — these are model-specific and the wrong one won't seat.
Let the new gasket sit in a warm room, or dip it in warm water, so it's soft and pliable and loses its packing creases.
Peel back one edge of the old gasket to expose the retaining channel or screws, then work the old one out and press the new one in a section at a time, starting at the corners.
Close the door and run the paper test all the way around. If it grips everywhere, you're done; if one corner still slips, warm that section and reseat it.

Unplug the freezer, then empty the affected section and clear frost or ice away from the bottom until you can see the small drain opening (often at the back of the floor or under a bottom panel).
Pour a little warm — not boiling — water into the drain. If it backs up or won't take the water, the drain is blocked; if it flows straight through, the drain isn't your problem.
To clear a blockage, flush gently with more warm water. Never jam a coat hanger, screwdriver, or other sharp object down the drain — you can pierce the tubing behind it.

Jamming a hanger, screwdriver, or ice pick down the drain can puncture the tubing behind it and turn a simple clog into a repair, so if warm water won't clear it, let a technician finish the job.

Unplug the unit, thaw and clear the ice around the drain, then flush the drain with warm water until it runs freely; keep it clear and let the freezer refreeze before reloading.

Unplug the freezer and move food to a cooler. Leave the door open so the ice around the drain can soften — towels underneath catch the melt.
Once you can reach the drain opening, flush it with warm water. If it's stubborn, a turkey baster of warm water aimed into the drain usually breaks the ice plug.
